When I double-click stencils, they don’t open in OmniGraffle for Mac. How can I fix this?
If your downloaded stencil has a blank icon or an icon that says 'exec', this is a sign that stencil is missing its normal .gstencil file extension. To fix this issue, just rename the stencil by adding .gstencil to the end of the file name. Once you do, you'll be asked if you wish to really add this file extension. Click on 'Add' to confirm the change, and then double-click the file to open it in OmniGraffle.

OmniGraffle 4 on macOS Sierra
Opening OmniGraffle v4 on macOS Sierra 10.12 can result in an error message of “”OmniGraffle.app” is damaged and can’t be opened.” This can appear due to Mac OS’s Gatekeeper, which checks for a developer signature to make sure this app came from a trusted source. OmniGraffle 4 predates the entire Gatekeeper ecosystem, so it lacks the code that Apple is looking for to validate the app’s legitimacy.
To exempt an app from Gatekeeper, Right-click or Control-click it, and select Open from the contextual menu. Click Open again in the dialog box to confirm, and enter your administrative credentials if required.
That being said, we have had at least some users report that OmniGraffle 4 is no longer operable at all for them on the latest OS, even after resolving this Gatekeeper issue. If the above steps don’t allow you to work around the issue, you may need to upgrade your license in order to run a version that offers compatibility with this operating system.
